What I'm working on is figuring out when an apology IS important. For a spelling error, do I need to apologize, or is it understood that everyone makes mistakes, and it would be more appropriate to call upon the capacity for human understanding in the other person. Say "oops, I did that" and laugh. And be a little more careful about when I apologize since that, to me anyway, is a power-giving-up moment. I do think power-giving-up and power-sharing is important -- it's important to be vulnerable. I just wonder about why we do it and if, for some people groups, it would be better to stop doing it so much.
