Oh wow! I started reading this because I recognized the tree in the picture. I live in Evanston, and I’ve been told they are “Ornamental Pear” trees. I haven’t been bothered by the smell, but I’ve been blown away by how lovely the blooms are. Especially this year — Wouldn’t you say we are having a lusher-than-ever spring? I had no idea these trees were such a nuisance. Thanks for the informative read!
