I very much agree - the best supporters and carers are the ones who have managed their own suffering and come out on the side of growth. Because every single person knows suffering; it's just that many people are stuck in it, believing that avoiding it will eventually get them unstuck. I think you're right that taking the mystique out trauma and death and all the other shadowy things will draw them into the light. Things grow in the light. We grow best when we are connected, when we are known to each other.
